Credibility

I saw this sticker on the left rear of an unnecessarily large (of course) SUV/MMV and I thought ... they do have a point. However, all credibility was lost by the presence of an Otter sticker on the lower right.

Rather like Michele Bachmann's brain - there are a great many things that worry me about it - but her migraines aren't among them. Likewise, Obama has demonstrated he's an ass on many levels and multiple fronts but not because he's a socialist or secret muslim.

It's Not The Economy Glass, Stupid

Evidently, Obama made these comments at a DNC fundraiser last week:

Democrats, just congenitally, tend to get -- to see the glass as half empty. (Laughter.) If we get an historic health care bill passed -- oh, well, the public option wasn't there. If you get the financial reform bill passed -- then, well, I don't know about this particular derivatives rule, I'm not sure that I'm satisfied with that. And gosh, we haven't yet brought about world peace and -- (laughter.) I thought that was going to happen quicker. (Laughter.) You know who you are. (Laughter.) We have had the most productive, progressive legislative session in at least a generation.[my emphasis]

Perhaps the problem isn't the glass that is half-empty but the suit that is completely so.

It also might have something to do with the vast majority of Americans of every political stripe (though more so for Democrats as Repugnicans manage to ram through all manner of egregious legislation with their (Democrats) assistance regardless of which party is in the majority) being cognizant of the fact that it has been over 30 years since they've had any representation in Congress.

That this recent legislative session should pass as the most "productive" and "progressive" further illustrates the point and your "historic" health care bill accomplishes approximately this:

I'll Stick With My Maybe ...

on Elizabeth Warren's temporary appointment. So did he make her an adviser/assistant to merely avoid a confirmation battle or so he could throw a bone to progressives ahead of the midterm elections hoping an appeasement will get them out to the polls? You know what I think; only time will tell. Kick some ass, Elizabeth.

A First .... Maybe

Is Obama actually going to do something intelligent and beneficial? I certainly have my doubts but then again, I suppose he could appoint her as pure gesture and render her powerless - that wouldn't surprise me (he's certainly into empty rhetoric and gesture). We'll see.

Again. Bush v Obama this time on transparency:
*I had to decrease the opacity by 20% to ensure the difference would be noticeable on screen, however, this should not be misconstrued as my thinking that the difference between these administrations is even of that magnitude.

Robert Gibbs was right when he said, “I hear these people saying he’s like George Bush. Those people ought to be drug tested,” -Clearly, Obama's and Bush's policies are nothing alike. Take the wars for example ... Unlike Bush, Obama is focusing on the good war.

On a related note, it seems I'm not the only one who thinks Mr. Obama has no apparent convictions. It would have been nice if a few more of you would have noticed how empty was his rhetoric during the primaries.

Yes, with more than 60% of the caucus voters in a single state voting for a candidate other than him, he makes a speech as if he's not only won the Democratic nomination, but the presidency.
