Shocked

I don't know about you but I'm shocked I tell you. Shouldn't the headline read something like Self-denial Overcome, Mehlman Realizes What Most Everyone Else Knew All Along -that he's the not-so-rare species of hyprocritical, gay, Republican and, of course ... an ass.

Mosque Mania

I admit, I'm against the mosque at ground zero (not that it's actually at ground zero but that's another issue entirely) but I'd be against it anywhere - as well as being against the churches of catholic, baptist, evangelical ...etc.. and most especially the mormon cult buildings that mar the landscape in these parts. I'm against them because I believe we'd be a whole helluva a lot better off if people would lose their ridiculous superstitions and act on rational thought rather than faith.

Yes, we have freedom of religion allowed by the first amendment but we supposedly also have separation of church and state - with tax exempt status (the government determining which entities qualify for exemption) how is that not 'establishing religion'?

That said, on a scale of things to worry about - forget the mosque. This should be of much greater concern.

Viva La Difference?

Again. Bush v Obama this time on transparency:
*I had to decrease the opacity by 20% to ensure the difference would be noticeable on screen, however, this should not be misconstrued as my thinking that the difference between these administrations is even of that magnitude.

Viva La Difference?

Robert Gibbs was right when he said, “I hear these people saying he’s like George Bush. Those people ought to be drug tested,” -Clearly, Obama's and Bush's policies are nothing alike. Take the wars for example ... Unlike Bush, Obama is focusing on the good war.

Figures from 2008/2010 in this report (pdf file link).

He (Gibbs) also claims that liberals will still show up in November to vote for the Dems -but won't they be worried about being taken aside for drug testing?

The Perfect Note

Well, the perfect song actually. I'm still plodding through my iTunes library and am on the Ys now (sorting by song title) and came upon this song and thought there couldn't be a more apt expression of what progressives think about Obama's performance to date. Take it away, Stevie:

We are amazed but not amused
By all the things you say that you'll do
Though much concerned but not involved
With decisions that are made by you

But we are sick and tired of hearing your song
Telling how you are gonna change right from wrong
'Cause if you really want to hear our views
"You haven't done nothing"!

It's not too cool to be ridiculed
But you brought this upon yourself
The world is tired of pacifiers
We want the truth and nothing else

And we are sick and tired of hearing your song
Telling how you are gonna change right from wrong
'Cause if you really want to hear our views
"You haven't done nothing"!

Jackson 5 join along with me say
Do da walk- hey hey hey
Do da walk- wow wow wow
Do da walk- co co co
Do da walk- naw naw naw
Do da walk- bum bum bum
Do da walk

We would not care to wake up to the nightmare
That's becoming real life
But when mislead who knows a person's mind
Can turn as cold as ice un hum

Why do you keep on making us hear your song
Telling us how you are changing right from wrong
'Cause if you really want to hear our views
"You haven't done nothing"!
Yeah

Jackson 5 sing one more time say
Do da walk
Do da walk- oh
Do da walk- co co co
Do da walk- sing it Jackie!
Do da walk- bum bum bum
Do da walk- um
Sing it loud for your people say
Do da walk- um um um

Do da walk- stand up be counted, say
Do da walk- co co co
Do da walk- ow
Do da walk- bum bum bum
Do da walk- ah hum
